if i could return, to the days
of far and long ago
there are so many things i'd change
given what i now know
i'm a victim of looming consequences
bruised upon my heart
running like little jerry cruncher
former dreams torn apart

the undoubted cylical cause-effect carousel
begins with hope, concludes with disappoinment
so i lock away everything from here on out
'cause the rash of pedestrain has no ointment

from all i can surmise, given what has been
cliches are because they're true
a fine line lies between illusion and depression
what will push me over, or who?
all i am is all i will become
pleasant holding my expression
in pages onto which i throw my deepest self
and fall into recession

am i what i could have been
or less, or maybe more?
for i, i took the road none travelled by
i opened all the new doors
